Per my last post this is a do-over...
Friday morning we got up and had breakfast at the hotel. Yummy yummy OJ & lots of fresh fruit including figs & lox with capers. After that my new friend, Cara, & I walked around the hotel and took photos of our breathtaking hotel. I attached a couple of my favorite photos. I just wish I could've been there when Michelle Obama & the girls were there last year. :(
After that we went to the beach of the Mediterranean Sea. It was weird because the area by the beach club was grass and then it went to sand but the closer you came to the water it was like a 50/50 sand/rock combo. Colton & Gabe, I grabbed you both a rock. What's absolutely crazy is that on a clear day you can not only see the Northern tip of Africa (hello to the motherland-well kind ok) but also the Rock of Gibraltar. I wasn't able to see "the rock" & yes it's ok to say it like Sean Connery did when he was referring to Alcatraz (Erin I know you did it) but I did get to see the Northern tip of Africa. It was all very surreal when you really sat back & thought about it. We walked back to the beach club & I had this yummy mojito (photo attached) & then we headed back to the hotel for final wedding prep.
Even though I'm a quarter Swedish I don't know a lot of the traditions so let me tell you about what Sophie implemented. Each man is assigned a woman (other than his wife) to escort into the reception. The seating is man then woman & so on & the spouse is not even allowed at the same table-it's pretty tricky to get it right. Anyway, after the couple's first dance the man dances with the woman he escorted in who sits on his right side so he is on her left therefore close to her heart. Then the man dances with his wife. After that the man dances with the woman on his left side. It seems like a lot of work but it's worth it. It's a great way for people to get out of their comfort zone & meet great new people. This is us trying to get it all figured out.
Then it was time for Sophie to get ready & then us; I don't think I've ever gotten ready so fast. Needless to say Sophia looked stunning!!! Luckily the ceremony was fast because it was hot & I felt sorry for all the guys in their tuxes. At one point I thought Jean-Pierre was about to faint but then I realized that the back legs of his chair were sinking into the ground & he almost fell over backwards. Can you imagine? We still had a good laugh at his expense.
After the ceremony there was a cocktail hour by the amphitheater (photo of the amphitheater attached). Then it was off to the reception. The food was delicious & I have to say that the first course which I'm pretty sure was duck liver was out of this world. It was funny because back in the states receptions are normally over at midnight or 1am at the very latest well not so in Spain. Let's just say the party was just getting started (did the Black Eyed Peas song play in your head too?) at midnight hence why we didn't go to bed until 4am. We just had too much to celebrate! Photos are attached. A HUGE thank you to Sophia & Ramu, the Wahbas & the Sabapathy's for everything you did. Love you all!!
